Exclusive Salmon Fishing on the Dee
Offers approximately 1.3 miles of double bank and 0.3 miles of single (right) fishing providing excellent fly water with eleven named pools.
This wonderful beat is located just to the east of Banchory beside the Park Bridge and consists of 2 miles of double bank fishing.
Under new ownership, this beat has not been openly marketed for many years, it is now looking to attract new tenants to this previously hidden gem on Deeside.
The beat has 10 named pools including the famous Kirk and Keith pools. The beat affords visitors quality facilities with 2 well-appointed fishing huts including cooking, heating and toilet facilities.
Known by the regulars as "the carpet slipper" for its easy wading and access to the river, the beat is well maintained with recent upgrades to the banks and access road.
Well managed by an experienced and popular ghillie Mr Terry Paton who is an excellent fly caster who excels in helping his customers with assistance and advice as required to ensure they maximise their pleasure and experience of the beat, Terry will show anglers some excellent fly fishing streams and pools and can be productive all season when conditions are favourable.
There is a history of producing the occasional big fish, which ensures a very loyal customer base who come year after year to the beat. There are some areas that would suit every level of fisher, including some constructed walkways providing assistance.
The nearby town of Banchory offers a good range of accommodation, restaurants, bars and local shops. This makes it a very popular destination for families to visit where there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local hospitality and facilities.
As a new beat to FishDee there is sure to be significant interest and early booking is essential as the beat requires 48 hours notice when booking.
Vehicular access to the river is good with well-maintained tracks on both north and south banks. Well-appointed bothies are situated in convenient spots on both sides of the river.
The north bank can accessed toward the bottom of the beat although a four wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
Access to the beat has, for many years, been restricted, having been retained for private use. From 2023 the river is now open and available all season.
The beat offers a quiet relaxed atmosphere with the beat owning the surrounding 87 acres including 28 acres of mixed species woodland.
An excellent “stress buster” which is interrupted only when a fish or grilse comes to the fly!
